ABSOLUTELY NO SWIMMING IN LAKE in "undesignated areas" PRIOR TO EVENT AS NO LIFEGUARDS ARE ON DUTY

If you violate any of these rules, you will be banned from the race and no refund will be issued.

Water temperature in the past has been around 68 degrees.

Half Lite 50 Course:

Half Lite Swim - .85 miles (1370 meters

  • Clockwise swim with buoys on right hand side throughout.
  • Expected water temperature around 64-70.  Westsuits allowed per USA Triathlon Rules.

"Half Lite 50" Bike - 40 miles (64K) 2 laps of a hilly course with one 1 1/2 mile challenging climb and several fast technical descents.  Open course (not closed to vehicular traffic).

  • Exit Transition area and turn right onto park road.
  • Left onto road toward park exit.
  • Turn left at Baltimore National Pike/MD-144/National Pike/US-40.
  • Turn right at Crystal Falls Dr.
  • Turn right at Federal Look Rd.
  • Slight right at MD-153/MD-17/Wolfsville Rd.
  • Turn right at Pleasant Walk Rd.
  • Turn right at Baltimore National Pike/MD-144/National Pike/US-40
  • Start second lap.  Turn right at Crystal Falls Dr.
  • Turn right at Federal Look Rd.

AquaBike for Half Lite 50.  This is Swim and Bike Only.  Finish inside Transition Area after the Bike Portion.  Do not continue outside of Transition over other timing mats at this point.

Half Lite Run - 9 miles - Out & back on 98% paved roads.  Runners stay to the left of each other.  Open course (not closed to vehicular traffic).

  • Left out of Transition Area onto paved path above beach.
  • Right through parking lot onto park road.
  • Turn right on park road to campground area.  .38 mile
  • Right at Dogwood Loop. .95 mile
  • Right onto gravel road (150 yds) exiting park.
  • Turn right on Keadle Rd. 1.3 miles
  • Right onto Mountain Laurel Rd. 2 miles
  • Right onto Greenbrier Rd. 3.6 miles
  • Turn right on Swope Rd. 4.45 miles
  • Turn around and return the same way except near finish. 4.5 miles
  • Finish line is next to beach on paved path.  9 miles.

 


 



Sprint Swim - .45 miles (725 meters) 1 lap.  In the beautiful freshwater Greenbrier Lake.

From the East

  • Take I-70 west to exit 42.
  • Bear right onto Rt. 17 north (follow signs).
  • Go into the center of Myersville and Rt. 17 will turn right.
  • Follow Rt. 17 to the flashing lights at the intersection of Rt. 40.
  • Turn left onto Rt. 40 west.
  • Follow for three miles and the park is on the left.

From the West

  • Take I-70 east to exit 35.
  • Bear right onto Rt. 66 (follow signs).
  • Go straight to the stoplight at the intersection of Rt. 40.
  • Turn left onto Rt. 40 east.
  • Follow for two miles and the park is on the right.

  • NO PETS ALLOWED.
  • 1:00pm-4:00pm - Early packet pickup at Greenbrier State Park, 21843 National Pike, Boonsboro, MD  21713. 
  • 3:00pm - First Timers Meeting.  "Open to all registered participants."  This is an opportunity to review logistics of the race with a Piranha Sports staff member.  It will involve reviewing packets, chip timing, transition area, rules, and tips. 
  • BRING YOUR BIKE AND HELMET for optional inspection at early packet pickup.

  • 6:45am - Late registration will close at this time.
  • 6:00am - 7:15am - Transition area opened.  Late packet pickup.  Body marking. 
  • 7:15am - Mandatory pre-race meeting.
  • 7:20am - National Anthem.
  • Wave assignments below are based on last year's and are subject to change. 
  • 7:30am - "Half Lite 50" Starts. Wave Assignments to be determined. 
  • 8:00am - Sprint Tri Starts. Wave Assignments to be determined. 
  • 11:00am - Official/Penalty Report for Sprint Tri Posted. This is your opportunity to review your own results.  Once awards ceremony begins, all results are final.
  • 11:15am  - Post race party/awards for Sprint Course Tri.  Awards will not be mailed. 
  • 12:30pm - Official/Penalty Report for "Half Lite 50"™ Tri Posted. This is your opportunity to review your own results.  Once awards ceremony begins, all results are final.
  • 12:45pm - Post race party/awards for "Half Lite 50"™ Tri.  Awards will not be mailed. 
  • 12:45pm - Transition area closed.

Race director/management may alter any part or distance of the event as dictated by event day conditions, such as weather.

Refund Policy
absolutely NO refunds will be made for any reason.  REFERRED TO AS “ENTRY FEES” ABOVE AND INCLUDES ENTRY FEES, PARTICIPANT SHIRTS, UPGRADED PRODUCTS, ANY OTHER AMENITIES, INSURANCE, AND ONLINE ADMINISTRATIVE FEES.  MUST BE PRESENT TO RECEIVE ANY ITEMS as leftovers are distributed on day of race.  WE DO NOT SHIP.  ENTRY FEES CANNOT BE  TRANSFERRED TO OTHER PERSONS OR APPLIED TOWARD future PIRANHA SPORTS EVENTS.  Selling your race entry slot is strictly prohibited by piranha sports. If you do sell your race slot, you will be disqualified from the race and you, as well as the entrant who purchased your slot, will be unable to race in another Piranha Sports event for a minimum of 2 years. Piranha Sports reserves the right to reject any entry if a valid photo ID is not presented at race packet pick-up.  There is NO rain date for the event.  In cases of inclement weather, natural disaster, acts of God, acts of war or other unforeseen extraordinary circumstances, management reserves the right to cancel the event and/or modify the race course for safety concerns. Under such circumstances, there will be absolutely no refunds or transfer of entries to future Piranha Sports events. Each athlete must accept any such risk of their entry fee paid including other amenities paid for such as participate shirts, upgrade products, insurance, and online administrative fees.  All monies collected are used to develop and produce the event, including all race supplies, staffing, and administration. We pledge to make every effort to produce a fair, safe and exciting event for all.  Management reserves the right to reject or accept a race entry for any reason.  By signing up for this race, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to the terms listed on this page.

Spectator Information
Parking 
Parking available on the park grounds. 

Athlete Support
Bring your cow bells, noise makers, posters, banners, and other items to cheer on your favorite athlete. Please keep in mind that spectators are not allowed to provide any outside assistance to the athletes. Outside assistance can result in penalties and possible disqualification. Outside assistance can include but is not limited to: transition area assistance, running or riding along with the athlete (pacing), handing off water bottles, etc. The Piranha Sports staff and volunteers will provide assistance as needed and allowed. As well, there will be no time during the event when spectators will be allowed in the secure transition area. If your athlete forgot an item for the transition area, please ask a Piranha Sports Staff member or volunteer to assist you in getting that item to the athlete.

Spectator Control
The Piranha Sports Staff and volunteers have your athlete’s safety and security as their primary responsibility. Therefore, there may be times during the course of the event that we will need to provide directions to spectators if we feel that the athletes do not have a clear and unobstructed path. Please pay close attention to these directions/instructions so that we are able to maintain the safety of every athlete.

Kids and Dogs
No pets allowed at this park.  The Piranha Sports Staff loves having kids at the events. The kids are our future. If you do bring your children, please keep a close eye on them. Do not allow them to venture onto any of the roadways particularly near the mount/dismount area. As well, if your children bring bikes, please ensure that they are wearing helmets at all times.
