Swim - 1/4 mile - Ocean Swim
- Wetsuits - If you need one, go to www.wetsuitrental.com and rent directly from them for $35 plus $6 shipping.
- Beach Start. Ocean swim parallel to shore.
Run - 1.5 miles - first leg for duathlon - out and back course.
- Starts near transition area
- Paved macadam towards Scenie Overlook and back

Bike - 15 miles - Flat and Fast
- Road course through and around the streets of Lewes and Cape Henlopen State Park.
- Exit Transition area and head towards exit of state park onto Cape Henlopen Drive (RD 9) and go past the Ferry on the right hand side.
- Go for about 1 mile and at "T", turn left onto Savannah Road (RD 18).
- Go over grated draw bridge and take immediate right onto 2nd Street/Front Street. Road turns into Pilottown Road (RD 276) upon exiting town of Lewes.
- Turn left onto main road onto campus of UD Marine Studies. Take this road for about 1 mile until you come to a "T".
- Turn right onto New Road (RD 288).
- Left onto Old Orchard Road (RD 269A).
- Left onto Savannah Road (RD18). Go for about 50 feet and...
- Right onto Wescoats Road (RD 12).
- Go for 20 feet and left onto Clay Road (RD 269).
- Left onto Kings HIghway (Route 9 and RD 268).
- Right onto Gills Neck Road (RD267) and go for about 2 miles back towards town).
- Right onto Savannah Road (RD 18) and over grated draw bridge.
- Right onto Cape Henlopen Drive (RD 19).
- At park entrance, you will follow regular traffic pattern as follows:
- Go to left side of the entrance booth.
- Left after entrance booth.
- Left again towards the Ocean.
- Right back onto main drive towards Ocean and into transition area.

Cape Henlopen State Park is located in Lewes, DE about 1 mile south from the Cape May/Lewes Ferry Terminal. Directions adopted from the www.capemaylewesferry.com site. Once you approach the Lewes Ferry Terminal, continue on Route 9 East/South (Cape Henlopen Drive) past the Ferry terminal for about 1/2 mile into the entrance of Cape Henlopen State Park. Then follow signs to the Ocean bath house.
- Rehoboth Outlets and Rehoboth Beach, DE, take Route 1 North past Rehoboth Outlets to Route 9 East
- Ocean City, MD, take Route 1 North to Route 9 East
- Chincoteague, VA, take 175 West to Route 13 North, which merges with Route 113 North, to Route 24 away from Millsboro, Delaware, to Route 1 North to Route 9 East
- Easton, MD, take Route 331 South from Easton to Route 318 East; Routes 331 and 318 will intersect, follow 318 East to Route 18 East; in Georgetown, Delaware, take Route 9 East
- Baltimore, MD, take Route 97 South to Route 50 East over the William Preston Lake Jr. Memorial Bridge to Route 404 East to Georgetown, Delaware, to Route 9 East
- Washington, DC, take Route 495 North/South around city to Route 50 East, then follow Baltimore directions

- 1:00pm-4:00pm - Early packet pickup at transition area located at parade field in Cape Henlopen State Park. 42 Cape Henlopen Drive, Lewes, DE 19958.
- 3:00pm - First Timers Meeting. "Open to all registered participants." This is an opportunity to review logistics of the race with a Piranha Sports staff member. It will involve reviewing packets, chip timing, transition area, rules, and tips.
- BRING YOUR BIKE AND HELMET for optional inspection at early packet pickup.

- 7:15am - Mandatory pre-race meeting.

| absolutely NO refunds will be made for any reason. REFERRED TO AS “ENTRY FEES” ABOVE AND INCLUDES ENTRY FEES, PARTICIPANT SHIRTS, UPGRADED PRODUCTS, ANY OTHER AMENITIES, INSURANCE, AND ONLINE ADMINISTRATIVE FEES. MUST BE PRESENT TO RECEIVE ANY ITEMS as leftovers are distributed on day of race. WE DO NOT SHIP. ENTRY FEES CANNOT BE TRANSFERRED TO OTHER PERSONS OR APPLIED TOWARD future PIRANHA SPORTS EVENTS. Selling your race entry slot is strictly prohibited by piranha sports. If you do sell your race slot, you will be disqualified from the race and you, as well as the entrant who purchased your slot, will be unable to race in another Piranha Sports event for a minimum of 2 years. Piranha Sports reserves the right to reject any entry if a valid photo ID is not presented at race packet pick-up. There is NO rain date for the event. In cases of inclement weather, natural disaster, acts of God, acts of war or other unforeseen extraordinary circumstances, management reserves the right to cancel the event and/or modify the race course for safety concerns. Under such circumstances, there will be absolutely no refunds or transfer of entries to future Piranha Sports events. Each athlete must accept any such risk of their entry fee paid including other amenities paid for such as participate shirts, upgrade products, insurance, and online administrative fees. All monies collected are used to develop and produce the event, including all race supplies, staffing, and administration. We pledge to make every effort to produce a fair, safe and exciting event for all. Management reserves the right to reject or accept a race entry for any reason. By signing up for this race, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to the terms listed on this page. |

| Spectator Information |
The Parade Field Area of Cape Henlopen State Park offers a large field with ideal spectator areas for watching the duathlon start, transition, bike start and finish as well as run start and finish. In the early morning and evening hours you may spot dear along the tree line. Bring the kids and make plans to spend the day at Cape Henlopen State Park walking the nature trails, enjoying the beach or fishing at the pier. This is one of the most beautiful parks in Delaware!
Parking
Spectator (as well as athlete) parking is available at Bath House parking area. Parking attendants will be available to assist you with parking. In order to prompt a safe bike portion of the race, we ask that you do not enter and/or leave the park once the race has begun. If you do need to enter/leave during the bike portion of the race, please do so with extreme care. The bikers will have the right of way while riding on park grounds.
Athlete Support
Bring your cow bells, noise makers, posters, banners, and other items to cheer on your favorite athlete. Please keep in mind that spectators are not allowed to provide any outside assistance to the athletes. Outside assistance can result in penalties and possible disqualification. Outside assistance can include but is not limited to: transition area assistance, running or riding along with the athlete (pacing), handing off water bottles, etc. The Piranha Sports staff and volunteers will provide assistance as needed and allowed. As well, there will be no time during the event when spectators will be allowed in the secure transition area. If your athlete forgot an item for the transition area, please ask a Piranha Sports Staff member or volunteer to assist you in getting that item to the athlete.
Spectator Control
The Piranha Sports Staff and volunteers have your athlete’s safety and security as their primary responsibility. Therefore, there may be times during the course of the event that we will need to provide directions to spectators if we feel that the athletes do not have a clear and unobstructed path. Please pay close attention to these directions/instructions so that we are able to maintain the safety of course and athletes.
Kids and Dogs
The Piranha Sports Staff loves having kids and dogs at the events. The kids are our future and the dogs are just great. If you do bring your children and/or pets, please keep a close eye on them. Do not allow them to venture onto any of the roadways particularly near the mount/dismount area. As well, if your children bring bikes, please ensure that they are wearing helmets at all times.
Post Race Food
Just as a reminder, the food and beverages provided by Piranha Sports are for athletes and volunteers only.

Cape Henlopen is a State Park and a take-in/take-out policy is in effect.
