Course
Swim - sprint course - 0.45 mile (1 loop); long course = 1.2 miles (3 loops).
  • Expected water temperature around 70 degrees.  Wetsuits allowed per USA Triathlon rules. 
  • Wetsuits - If you need one, go to www.wetsuitrental.com and rent directly from them for $35 plus $6 shipping.
  • In water start.  Swim in counter-clockwise position keeping buoys on your left.

Bike - sprint course - 23.5 miles (1 loop course - inner loop).  Flat and Fast.  Open course - not closed to traffic.  Use shoulders where available. 

  • Exit transition area and turn left onto East Avenue.
  • Turn left onto Main Street (Route 553).
  • At traffic light, turn left onto Cedarville Road (Route 610).
  • At flashing red light, right onto Route 670 East (Buckshutem Road).
  • Right onto Route 555 South (Dividing Road).
  • Right onto 553 North.
  • At traffic light in Cedarville - proceed straight onto "Main Street".
  • Right onto East Avenue and back to transition area.

Bike - long course - 56 miles (2 loop course - outer loop).  Flat and Fast.  Open course - not closed to traffic.  Use shoulders where available. 

  • Exit transition area and turn left onto East Avenue.
  • Turn left onto Main Street (Route 553).
  • At traffic light, turn left onto Cedarville Road (Route 610).
  • At flashing red light, right onto Route 670 East (Buckshutem Road).
  • Turn right (around mile 13) onto Steep Run Road (Route 633).
  • Turn right (around mile 15) onto Highland Street (Route 676).  There is a flashing yellow light at this intersection.
  • Bottle (water/sport "Gatorade" drink) exchange on Highland Street (miles 15 and 43) - throw old and used bottle aside, slow down, and grab bottle while continuing to ride.
  • FYI - Highland Street (Route 676) will eventually become Haleyville Road.
  • Turn right onto Route 553 North (this is around mile 20).
  • At traffic light in town of Cedarville, turn right and repeat loop.
  • Bottle (water/sport "Gatorade" drink) exchange will be located somewhere around town of Cedarville near this intersection (mile 27.5).  Throw old and used bottle aside, slow down, and grab bottle while continuing to ride.
  • THE SECOND TIME (AFTER THE SECOND LOOP) AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHT IN TOWN OF CEDARVILLE - proceed straight onto "Main Street".
  • Right onto East Avenue and back to transition area.

Run - sprint course - 4 miles.  Runners stay to the left of each other.  Out and back course.  All road surfaces.  Not a closed course.  Flat and little shading.  Water/sport "Gatorade" drink approximately every mile. 

  • Exit transition area and turn left around the Myron L. Powell Elementary School onto Schafer Avenue.
  • Left onto Main Street (get over to the right shoulder away from bikers heading back).
  • Right onto Mulford Avenue.
  • Left onto Iron Bridge Road.
  • Right onto Maple Avenue which becomes Jones Island Road.
  • Turn around at mile 2 and head straight back the same direction to the finish line.

Run - long course - 13.1 miles.  Runners stay to the left of each other.  Out and back course.  All road surfaces.  Not a closed course.  Flat and little shading.  Water/sport "Gatorade" drink approximately every mile. 

  • Exit transition area and turn left around the Myron L. Powell Elementary School onto Schafer Avenue.
  • Left onto Main Street (get over to the right shoulder away from bikers heading back).
  • Right onto Mulford Avenue.
  • Left onto Iron Bridge Road.
  • Right onto Maple Avenue which becomes Jones Island Road.
  • Continue past the 2 mile mark of the "short run course" and go to run turn around at approximatley 3.6 miles.
  • Head back towards Iron Bridge Road and turn left onto Mulford Avenue which becomes Bowers Creek Road.
  • At the "t" intersection, turn left onto Sayres Neck Road.
  • Go for about 1/2 mile on Sayres Neck Road and turn around and head straight back to transition area as listed below...
  • Turn right back onto Bowers Creek Road.
  • Turn left back onto Main Street (again, stay over to the extreme left to avoid bicyclists coming back).
  • Take right back onto Schafer Avenue.
  • Take right around the Elementary School.
  • Head straight to finish line.

  • From Delaware side (I95), cross the Delaware Memorial Bridge (I295).
  • On New Jersey side, take Route 40 East for about 25 miles.
  • Route 55 South for about 15 miles until you come to the end of 55 which merges into Route 57 South.

  • 1:00pm-4:00pm - Early packet pickup at Cedarville recreation fields in Cedarville, NJ, CUMBERLAND COUNTY.  Mapquest search - Myron L. Powell Elementary School.  225 Main St., Cedarville, NJ  08311.
  • 3:00pm - First Timers Meeting.  "Open to all registered participants."  This is an opportunity to review logistics of the race with a Piranha Sports staff member.  It will involve reviewing packets, chip timing, transition area, rules, and tips. 
  • BRING YOUR BIKE AND HELMET for optional inspection at early packet pickup.

Sunday, May 4, 2008

  • 6:00am - 7:30am - LAST MINUTE BIKE AND HELMET optional inspections. 
  • 6:45am - Late registration will close at this time.
  • 6:00am - 7:30am - Transition area opened.  Late packet pickup.  Body marking.
  • 7:45am - Mandatory pre-race meeting.
  • 7:50am - National Anthem.
  • 8:00am - Sprint Course Triathlon Starts.
  • 8:00am - Swim (1 loop) - 1st wave for Sprint Tri.  Sprint Tri Participants.  Men 40+, All Females, All Relays.  Red Swim Caps. 
  • 8:03am - Swim - 2nd wave start for Sprint.  Sprint Tri Participants.  Men 39 and Under.  White Swim Caps. 
  • 8:05am (approximate) - Half Distance Starts.
  • 8:05am - Swim (3 loops) - 3rd wave.  Half Distance Participants.  Men 40+, All Females, All Relays.  Blue Swim Caps. 
  • 8:08am - Swim - 4th wave.  Half Distance Participants.  Men 39 and Under.  Green Swim Caps. 
  • 12:45pm - Cut off time for bike leg.  14mph average for this flat bike course if started by 8:45am.

Refund Policy
absolutely NO refunds will be made for any reason.  REFERRED TO AS “ENTRY FEES” ABOVE AND INCLUDES ENTRY FEES, PARTICIPANT SHIRTS, UPGRADED PRODUCTS, ANY OTHER AMENITIES, INSURANCE, AND ONLINE ADMINISTRATIVE FEES.  MUST BE PRESENT TO RECEIVE ANY ITEMS as leftovers are distributed on day of race.  WE DO NOT SHIP.  ENTRY FEES CANNOT BE  TRANSFERRED TO OTHER PERSONS OR APPLIED TOWARD future PIRANHA SPORTS EVENTS.  Selling your race entry slot is strictly prohibited by piranha sports. If you do sell your race slot, you will be disqualified from the race and you, as well as the entrant who purchased your slot, will be unable to race in another Piranha Sports event for a minimum of 2 years. Piranha Sports reserves the right to reject any entry if a valid photo ID is not presented at race packet pick-up.  There is NO rain date for the event.  In cases of inclement weather, natural disaster, acts of God, acts of war or other unforeseen extraordinary circumstances, management reserves the right to cancel the event and/or modify the race course for safety concerns. Under such circumstances, there will be absolutely no refunds or transfer of entries to future Piranha Sports events. Each athlete must accept any such risk of their entry fee paid including other amenities paid for such as participate shirts, upgrade products, insurance, and online administrative fees.  All monies collected are used to develop and produce the event, including all race supplies, staffing, and administration. We pledge to make every effort to produce a fair, safe and exciting event for all.  Management reserves the right to reject or accept a race entry for any reason.  By signing up for this race, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to the terms listed on this page.

Spectator Information
Cedarville Park and the town of Cedarville provide excellent spectator views for both the Short Course and Half Iron events of the New Jersey Devilman.  Cheer on your favorite athlete from Main Street which provide views of the swim, bike and run.

Parking
Spectator (as well as athlete) parking is available at the back end of Cedarville Park.  Parking attendants will be available to assist you in parking.  Please stay on dirt road within park.  Please do not drive on the grass.  As well, please do not park along Main Street/Rt 553 this is the main thoroughfare for the bike in/out and run in/out.

Athlete Support
Bring your cow bells, noise makers, posters, banners, and other items to cheer on your favorite athlete.  Please keep in mind that spectators are not allowed to provide any outside assistance to the athletes.  Outside assistance can result in penalties and possible disqualification.  Outside assistance can include but is not limited to: transition area assistance, running or riding along with the athlete (pacing), handing off water bottles, etc.  The Piranha Sports staff and volunteers will provide assistance as needed and allowed.  As well, there will be no time during the event when spectators will be allowed in the secure transition area.  If your athlete forgot an item for the transition area, please ask a Piranha Sports Staff member or volunteer to assist you in getting that item to the athlete.

Spectator Control
The Piranha Sports Staff and volunteers have your athlete’s safety and security as their primary responsibility.  Therefore, there may be times during the course of the event that we will need to provide directions to spectators if we feel that the athletes do not have a clear and unobstructed path.  Please pay close attention to these directions/instructions so that we are able to maintain the safety of course and athletes.

Kids and Dogs
The Piranha Sports Staff loves having kids and dogs at the events.  The kids are our future and the dogs are just great.  If you do bring your children and/or pets, please keep a close eye on them.  Do not allow them to venture onto any of the roadways particularly near the mount/dismount area.  As well, if your children bring bikes, please ensure that they are wearing helmets at all times.
