Event Summary

This only True Aquathlon of its kind in the state!

Like to swim?  Well we have the event for you!  Delaware's only tru aquathlon...Swim, Run, Swim!  You will start the race with a cool 400M swim, transition to your sneakers and run a FAST 5k, then jump in the water for a refreshing 200m sprint swim to the finish at the shore line!  Come spend an evening with us for a great cause.  A portion of the proceeds going to Julie's fund, a scholarship set in place to provide parents & infants the ability to learn vital skills thru ISR (Infant Swimming Resource) that could save their life.  This event comes with unique custom made awards, T-shirts, music, great food...and birthday cake!

Come and join us for the second annual “Julie’s Race”, in Kent County, Delaware. We invite you to compete in an amazing and unique styled format aquathlon: Swim – Run – Swim! Held at beautiful Lake Como in Smyrna, Delaware! This is a great opportunity for you and your family or team to enjoy a beautiful central location and have an evening filled with fun and competition.

This event is being held in honor of Jess’s late sister Julie, and will benefit a scholarship fund that has been formed in her name to help send children and parents thru the ISR (infant swimming resource) swim course. You may select to contribute to Julie's Scholarship Fund by selecting either the $100, $75, $50, $25 amount under additional options when registering.  This contribution is optional and not required in order to participat in this event.  If you're interested in contributing more, please contact Jess Manning directly at jess@bricksmultisport.com.

Swim – 1/4 mile - triathlon - beach start

Expected water temperature around 70 degrees.  Wetsuits are allowed per USAT Rules & recommended.

Run – 3.1 miles.  Out and back loop course through downtown partially shaded Smyrna neighborhoods. 

  • Start at transition area and proceed north on Main Street
  • Turn left on Lake Dr.
  • Turn left on Kent Way
  • Turn left on Lake Dr.West
  • Turn right on Cindy Ln
  • Turn left on Johns Rd.
  • Turn left on Kates Way
  • Turn right on Lake Dr, West
  • Veer Right on Owens Brooke Dr.
  • Turn right on Kent Way
  • Turn right S. School Ln.
  • Turn left on Hamilton Ln.
  • Turn right on Main St.
  • Enter transition area, exit for swim finish.
  • Water/HEED station at the approximate ¾  mile and 2 ¼  mile markers


Swim – 1/8 mile - triathlon - beach start

  • Exit transition, enter water
  • Lake swim counterclockwise box.
  • Running start, waves.
  • Stay right of all buoys
  • Finish line out of water on beach.

Race Itinerary

Friday, July 19, 2013

  • 6:00pm-6:30pm – registration, body marking & packet pickup at Lake Como Smyrna under the Gazebo.
  • 6:55pm - Mandatory pre-race meeting in the Transition Area.
  • 7:00pm - 1st Swim Wave.  All Females.  Yellow Caps.
  • 7:05pm – 2nd Swim wave.  All Males.  Orange Caps.
  • 8:15pm -  Official results posted.  This is your opportunity to review your own results.  Once awards ceremony begins, all results are final.
  • 8:30pm - Post race party/awards.
  • 8:45pm - Transition area closed.
Race director/management may alter any part or distance of the event as dictated by event day conditions, such as weather.
Refund Policy
absolutely NO refunds will be made for any reason.  REFERRED TO AS “ENTRY FEES” ABOVE AND INCLUDES ENTRY FEES, PARTICIPANT SHIRTS, UPGRADED PRODUCTS, ANY OTHER AMENITIES, INSURANCE, AND ONLINE ADMINISTRATIVE FEES.  MUST BE PRESENT TO RECEIVE ANY ITEMS as leftovers are distributed on day of race.  WE DO NOT SHIP.  ENTRY FEES CANNOT BE TRANSFERRED TO OTHER PERSONS OR APPLIED TOWARD future PIRANHA SPORTS EVENTS.  Selling your race entry slot is strictly prohibited by piranha sports. If you do sell your race slot, you will be disqualified from the race and you, as well as the entrant who purchased your slot, will be unable to race in another Piranha Sports event for a minimum of 2 years. Piranha Sports reserves the right to reject any entry if a valid photo ID is not presented at race packet pick-up.  The rain date for the event is July 19th.  In cases of inclement weather, natural disaster, acts of God, acts of war or other unforeseen extraordinary circumstances, management reserves the right to cancel the event and/or modify the race course for safety concerns. Under such circumstances, there will be absolutely no refunds or transfer of entries to future Piranha Sports events. Each athlete must accept any such risk of their entry fee paid including other amenities paid for such as participate shirts, upgrade products, insurance, and online administrative fees.  All monies collected are used to develop and produce the event, including all race supplies, staffing, and administration. We pledge to make every effort to produce a fair, safe and exciting event for all.  Management reserves the right to reject or accept a race entry for any reason.  By signing up for this race, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to the terms listed on this page.
