As we prepare for this exciting opening event, Online registration has been closed.  However, you may still register in person at the race site located at Lums Pond State Park, Area #1, Howell School Road, Bear, DE  19701.

If you still wish to race, please click on pdf below and print out paper registraiton, fill out completely, and show up at the race site this Saturday between 1:00pm and 4:00pm.    Cash only accepted.

We've added a duathlon to this kids event to allow for those who are a bit nervous about the water a chance to still participate with all multisport racers!  We look forward to this addition!!

PRIVATE LAKE - PLEASE RESPECT RULES

THIS IS A STATE PARK LAKE AND PROPERTY. PLEASE ADHERE PARK'S RULES:

ABSOLUTELY NO SWIMMING IN LAKE PRIOR TO EVENT AS NO LIFEGUARDS ARE ON DUTY

If you violate any of these rules, you will be banned from the race and no refund will be issued.

Water temperature in the past has been around 75 degrees.

Event Summary
  • "Race Weekend for the Entire Family" - Sign your child up for this race and sign yourself up for the Adult Race the same day (Tri-It Triathlon).
  • Please note: This event is opned to kids aged 7 to 14 in which their ages are 7 to 14 as of 12/31/13. This is in accordance of the USAT age up rule. If you turn 15 on or before 12/31/13, you cannot participate in the race.
  • Opened to kids only aged 7 to 14
  • Fun run follows triathlon for all kids and adults of all ages 2 to 99
  • An Escape from School Youth Series Race

Saturday, June 8, 2013

  • 1:00pm-4:00pm - Early packet pickup at the beach area (Area #1) of Lums Pond State Park. 1068 Howell School Road, Bear, DE 19701.
  • 1:30pm - First Timers Meeting.  "Open to all registered participants."  This is an opportunity to review logistics of the race with a Piranha Sports staff member. It will involve reviewing packets, chip timing, transition area, rules, and tips.

  • 5:30am - 7:00am - BIKE AND HELMET optional inspections.
  • 5:30am - 6:45am - Race Day Registrations. Cut off time is 6:45am prompt.
  • 5:30am - 7:00am - Transition area opened. Located at area #1 on grass. Packet pickup. Body marking.
  • 6:45am - All athletes AND spectators/family members must be in the park by this time due to road closure for kids race within the park itself.
  • 7:00am - Mandatory pre-race meeting.
  • 7:05am - National Anthem.
  • Wave assignments are from 2012 and are subject to change.
  • 7:15am - DU for kids - 1st Wave.  Mass Start.
  • 7:18am - Swim - 2nd Wave. 13-14 year olds. Red Caps.
  • 7:21am - Swim - 3rd Wave. 11-12 year olds. Blue Caps.
  • 7:24am - Swim - 4th Wave. 9-10 year olds. Green Caps.
  • 7:27am - Swim - 5th Wave. 7-8 year olds. Purple Caps.
  • Fun run follows triathlon for all kids and adults of all ages 2 to 99
  • 7:45am - Official results posted. This is your opportunity to review your own results. Once awards ceremony begins, all results are final.
  • 8:00am - Post race party/awards. Awards will not be mailed.
  • 8:00am - Transition area closed.
  • 8:15am - Adult race "Tri-It Triathlon" follows this event and starts at 8:15am. Stay around and watch your mom and dads race!!

Race director/management may alter any part or distance of the event as dictated by event day conditions, such as weather.
