Thank you to those who have registered early via online registration.  We have now closed online registration as we prepare for this exciting weekend.

Just under 30 slots left and if you wish to register in person at race site, please do so this Saturday between 6:45am and 8:00am.  Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis, so be sure to arrive early!!

There may be some minimal registration allowed on Race Morning.No slots will be held, no exceptions.

Central Delaware's only Triathlon!  

Bring your team or just yourself for this FAST sprint distance triathlon!  Enjoy a quick 1/4 mile swim in beautiful spring feed Lake Como, and a quick zip on flat course through the country on your bike, then run through a partially shaded and fan friendly 5k course.  Entry includes a safe sanctioned course, custom awards, sweat-wick shirt, TONS of food for everyone, and much, much more!  NEW for this year -  try either Duathlon Sprint or Aquabike Sprint. 

Come and join Kent County, Delaware's Team Bricks for its Annual Invitational Triathlon and the Delaware Senior Olympians!  IMPORTANT FOR DELAWARE SENIOR OLYMPIANS - SEE BELOW UNDER Delaware Senior Olympians Information - IMPORTANT!  We invite you to compete at our "Home course," beautiful Lake Como in Smyrna, Delaware!  WE also invite triathlon teams and clubs to compete in team scoring.  Team and individual results will be kept.

Delaware Senior Olympians Information - IMPORTANT!

This event will also be the battleground for Senior Olympians for the Delaware Senior Olympians Triathlon which is for the Sprint Individual Distance Only.  Competitors will be eligible for awards in both the Invitational tri and the senior Olympics tri.  Don't miss this great opportunity and fast, flat Delaware racing!  All states Senior Olympians welcome!  Be sure to select the division drop down list of "Senior Olympian 50+ years of age" when registering (Sprint Individual Distance Only)

Sprint Triathlon Individual Awards:
  • Top 3 Overall Male, Overall Female.
  • Male Age Groups ~ Top 3 in each
    • 19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65+
  • Female Age Groups  ~ Top 3 in each  = 19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65+

Course
Sprint Swim – 1/4 mile - triathlon - beach start
  • Lake swim counterclockwise circle.
  • Running start, waves.
  • Start right of ALL buoys
  • Left turns at Buoys 1 & 3

  • Expected water temperature around 76 degrees.  Wetsuits are allowed per USAT Rules & recommended if the temp permits.
  • AQUABIKE Swim course is DOUBLE LOOP of Sprint Swim Course

Duathlon 1st Run Leg – 1.35 miles.  Out and back course through downtown partially shaded Smyrna neighborhoods. 

  • Start at start line located north bound on the Main Street.
  • Turn left on Lake Dr.
  • Turn left on Lake Como Circle
  • Stay straight onto Tyler Ln.
  • Turn right on Merrill Way
  • Turn left on South School Ln.
  • Turn right on Hamilton Dr.
  • Turn right on South Main St.
  • Turn right into park towards Transition Area
  • Finish in Transition Area "Swim-In" entrance

Bike – 13.2 mile loop.  Racers complete one (1)  - Flat and Very Fast.

  • Exit Transition area and head south on Route 13
  • Bare first right onto Sunnyside Road.
  • Proceed through 4 way stop and over railroad tracks.
  • Turn left onto Hilyard Road.
  • Turn right onto Brenford Road.
  • Make sharp right turn (slow down) onto Mt. Friendship Road.
  • Turn right onto Wheatley's Pond Road (Rt. 300), taking caution as traffic is heavy on this road.
  • Remain on Rt 300 as you enter back into town area and cross over railroad tracks.
  • Make sharp right turn onto Carter Road.  Slow for this tight turn, keeping mind there is a grate in the road.
  • Left onto South Street.
  • Right at stop sign onto School Lane.
  • Left onto Hamilton Lane.
  • Right onto S. Main Street.
  • Stay on shoulder as you approach Highway 13.
  • Dismount line is on Hwy. 13.  Be sure to dismount your bike before the line.
  • Keep to the right at all times.  Pass on the left in accordance with USAT rules and be polite by announcing your position on the left to riders being overtaken.
  • Have a safe ride and always stay in control.

Run – 3.1 miles.  Out and back course through downtown partially shaded Smyrna neighborhoods. 

  • Start at transition area and proceed north on the Main Street.
  • Turn left on Lake Dr.
  • Turn left on Kent Way
  • Turn left on Lake Dr. West
  • Turn right on Cindy Ln.
  • Turn left on Johns Rd.
  • Turn left on Kate's Way
  • Turn right on Lake Dr. West
  • Veer right on Owens Brooke Dr.
  • Turn right on Kent Way
  • Turn right S. School Ln
  • Turn left on Hamilton Ln.
  • Turn right on Main St.
  • Finish line at Lake Como
  • AQUABIKE will exit transition and start run portion, go for about 75 yards, u-turn to their right, and head over the finish line.  Must do this to be considered timed and completed the Aquabike.  In other words, Aquabike consists of a swim, bike and about a 200 yard run/walk.

Directions
Start Here:
Directions to Lake Como, Smyrna, DE
To mapquest/google directions to Lake Como, use 244 S. Main Street, Smyrna, DE  19977.  This is the address across the street as the Lake does not have it's own address.  Once you arrive at the Lake area, volunteers will direct you to the parking areas.  Please do not park on neighboring streets unless asked to by a volunteer as you may be inadvertently creating congestion on the race course.  Parking will be within 3 blocks of the park and most of it is within 1 block.
 
From the North:
Use Route 1 south to exit 114.  Right on Northbound route 13.  Through one light and bear left onto Main Street.  Lake is on Left.  Follow volunteers to parking.
 
From the South:
Use Route 1 north to exit 114.  Right on Northbound route 13.  Through one light and bear left onto Main Street.  Lake is on Left.  Follow volunteers to parking.
 
From the West:
From the Bay Bridge.  Take 301 north.  Turn right onto 300, toward Smyrna.  You will go through Kenton and when approaching the Smyrna-Clayton area you will cross railroad tracks.  Within a quarter mile of the tracks make a right onto Carter Road (there a traffic light).  Turn left onto South Street.  Right on School Lane.  Left on Hamilton.  At this point you may see volunteers parking cars.  Otherwise proceed to the Lake by making a right onto Main Street.  The Lake is about a block away.  From the Bay Bridge, expect it to take you an hour of travel time, maybe a little more.
 
Drive safely and we will see you at Lake Como!  If you find yourself lost, call us at 302-632-3200.

  • 6:30am - 8:00am - Transition area open - Located at Lake Como. Late packet pickup.  Body marking.
  • 6:30am - 8:00am - LAST MINUTE BIKE AND HELMET inspections by Bike Line Middletown.
  • 8:10am - Mandatory pre-race meeting in the Transition Area.
  • 8:25am - National Anthem on the Beach.
  • 8:30am - 1st Wave = Duathlon.  Mass Wave Start.
  • 8:35am - 2nd Save starting with Triathlon.
  • 8:35am -   2nd Wave = Sprint Triathlon.  All Men.  AND all AQUABIKERS (males and females).  Blue Caps.
  • 8:40am - 3rd Wave - Sprint Triathlon.  All Females.  Red Caps.
Race director/management may alter any part or distance of the event as dictated by event day conditions, such as weather.

Refund Policy
REFUND POLICY FOR OTHER EVENTS:  I agree that Piranha Sports is a merchant vendor for this race and should the event be cancelled or I do not to participant for whatever reason, I will not seek a refund from Piranha Sports.  Instead, I may elect to contact the event organizer directly for this event concerning any refunds and seek refunds from said event organizer.

absolutely NO refunds will be made for any reason.  REFERRED TO AS “ENTRY FEES” ABOVE AND INCLUDES ENTRY FEES, PARTICIPANT SHIRTS, UPGRADED PRODUCTS, ANY OTHER AMENITIES, INSURANCE, AND ONLINE ADMINISTRATIVE FEES.  MUST BE PRESENT TO RECEIVE ANY ITEMS as leftovers are distributed on day of race.  WE DO NOT SHIP.  ENTRY FEES CANNOT BE TRANSFERRED TO OTHER PERSONS OR APPLIED TOWARD future PIRANHA SPORTS EVENTS.  Selling your race entry slot is strictly prohibited by piranha sports.
If you do sell your race slot, you will be disqualified from the race and you, as well as the entrant who purchased your slot, will be unable to race in another Piranha Sports event for a minimum of 2 years. Piranha Sports reserves the right to reject any entry if a valid photo ID is not presented at race packet pick-up.  There is NO rain date for the event.  In cases of inclement weather, natural disaster, acts of God, acts of war or other unforeseen extraordinary circumstances, management reserves the right to cancel the event and/or modify the race course for safety concerns. Under such circumstances, there will be absolutely no refunds or transfer of entries to future Piranha Sports events. Each athlete must accept any such risk of their entry fee paid including other amenities paid for such as participate shirts, upgrade products, insurance, and online administrative fees.  All monies collected are used to develop and produce the event, including all race supplies, staffing, and administration. We pledge to make every effort to produce a fair, safe and exciting event for all.  Management reserves the right to reject or accept a race entry for any reason.  By signing up for this race, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to the terms listed on this page.
