Bike Line Middletown
**Bike Portion Cancelled due to Road Conditions**
We are sorry to inform everyone that after careful evaluation of the road conditions for the bike portion of this event, we need to cancel the bike due to these reasons:

1.  Oil and Chip cannot be swept up adequately to avoid any gravel on the course including turns.
2.  In knowing that many triathletes do not take the time to review the bike course ahead of time (even though it is the athletes' resposnbility to know the course), we feel there may be too many racers who may crash, despite beefing up the turns with more volunteers, fire police, etc.
3.  The Oil and Chip will most likely cause ding like and oil like damage to bike frames and gears, etc.
4.  There is absolutely no other alternative via bike course to accommodate to avoid Scenic Drive where over half the bike course covers, crosses, etc.

We also want to stress that our race management only heard of this road surface change just over 24 hours ago and could not make any adjustments until after we reviewed the bike course today.

We also want to thank everyone in advance for their understanding and good sportsmanship in this decision.  There will be no refunds, however, we will be working on a discount code to accommodate all racers at Patriots to take advantage for a future race.  This discount code will be sent in a follow-up email to the racers sometime next week.

The event is now an Aquathlon with the same distance swim and run as per your event.  They are as follows:

Sprint Distance:
Swim = 650 Meters
Run = 3 Miles

Half LIte Distance:
Swim = 1300 Meters
Run = 7 Miles

We will follow the same schedule with Sprint at 7:30am start and Half LIte start at 8:00am.  The anticipated time for the awards ceremony will now be at 9:30am.
